Old Favorites - Family Recipes

There are always some recipes that always stay at the top of the file year after year.

Some of the recipes are handed down in the family. Some are your own discoveries or recipes that you came up with yourself.

In some cases, favorite recipes are family staples. You may make your favorite several times a month, because you know it will be a hit. Or there may be something you make that you always take to gatherings. When you show up with something different, you hear about it. I know the Boy Scouts are disappointed when I don't bring my Peanut Butter Fudge to dinners.

Other favorite dishes may be connected with certain holidays or events. My boys were not at all excited about having cornish game hens for Thanksgiving instead of the traditional turkey, and they really balked about jazzed up mashed potatoes over the holidays.

While I do love to try out new recipes, I also understand the value of having some family dishes that are tried, true, and trusted. It's like new clothes. It's nice to have a new dress, but I'm not going to part with my favorite pair of Levis.
