Funky Food Fun

Wild Hair Day

If your mother told you not to play with your food, forgive her. That old saying has been passed down for generations. It’s kind of like when you get in trouble, and you suddenly have a middle name. Middle names, I think, are given for the sole purpose of having something to call someone when they are marching to their own music or bouncing balls in the house.
It’s little wonder that no one cooks today. (Well, some of us do and more with the economy so bad.) We’ve all been conditioned that cooking is work and that playing with food is wrong, wrong, wrong.
Many have also gotten the idea that cooking is hard and that they aren’t any good at cooking. Think about it though. You didn’t take off swimming the first time you stepped in a pool (unless you are amazing) and your first art projects probably weren’t terrific either. Cooking, like most everything else, just takes some time and practice.
Enjoy looking around Yes You Can Cook. You’ll find lots of great recipes with good directions. If I missed anything along the way, let me know. I made this web site so others could actually cook up some good food.
I also encourage you to play around. Try some new seasonings. Pick out a fruit or vegetable you’ve never tasted and give it a whirl. Get a grill and try some outdoor cooking. My Yes You Can Grill site can help you out there.
And try out some fun recipes. I’m listing some of our favorites here and adding as I get time.
